It's Geek... Nerd is a pretty mean thing to call somebody.
I appeal to Merriam-Webster:
nerdVS
1 : an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits.
geek
3 : an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity
