its just like being a super hero

only with no special powers.....

explenation: I accidentaly slaughtered the enitre dorm at about 3 different video games over the last month. now they expect me to and its just too stressfull ;) oh well, i'll just have to get lucas up here to beat me at CS sometime so i can regain a sense of humblness :)

there is a lecture on russian music tonight. there is a rumor that there will be actual demonstraitions of this music but these are unconfirmed.

I spent the day in classes, or fixing a laptop that dosnt want to be fixed (my cousin rebekas to be exact), reading greek tragedies and eating pizza. all in all a good day.

well, thank you to all my loyal fans ;) who kept checking even though i missed an entire week of blogging. hopefull i shall be more consistant for a while.

im still here

sorry for the long absence. we got really busy for a while and then really unbusy for a while. during the former i had no time to write and during the later i had nothing to write about.

today i read an article on how pidgins home. or rather how they find there way home (very interesting combination of magnetic perception, sun position [with time of day compensation] and something they hadnt decided yet in the late 70's when the article was written. im sure they have now but i havent looked it up yet.) also an article about the infra red receptors that snakes have, and finaly an article about how some fish use a magnetic field generated at there tail and running ot there nose to navigate. it was all pretty interesting stuff.

i had don rags earlier this week. my teachers all had nice things to say and suggestions for improvement.

there was the biggest lan party i have ever been too two nights ago, 22 people with there computers in 3 rooms playing against eachother. it was quite fun, I played till 2:00 AM, some people played all night (till 7:00 in the morning)

today we rearanged the furniture in the lounge in our dorm, its much better now.

the person sitting next to me is looking at a picture of a toddler licking the snout on a big old hairy pig. ew.

i have to write a 1200 word paper determing weather penelope's greating of odysseus in the oddysy was fitting or not this weekend. fun fun.

well, i hope everybody is well. if anybody is interested in a T-Shirt that says "i dont believe in aitheists." (and i will check the spelling before making them) let me know, they are 17$ apiece and i cant print them unless i get at least 10 people who want one.

ciao,
patrick

conspiracy

I do not use that word for the negative conotations that it brings. Rather, I am beggining to see the most amusingly secretive, yet very positive, note in many science papers of the last 70 years.

What I observe is the random capitolization of words such as "Justice" "Reason" "Order". These occur in sentances such as "through the precise allocation of these hive cells; a certain Order is observed in nature". There could be some gramatic reason for that that I am not aware of. However, how I read this is to make these words proper nouns. My conclusion is: If we can say that God is such things as Love, Hope, Truth, ect, then by capitolizing these words in such a sentance you direct atention to him and the inherent role he plays in these scientific fields. I realize that it would be better to come out and say that you can see the work of God in these things, but this would be somewhat out of place in many of these documents. Just a random thought.

I had fun in science class by trying to think of a good analogy for how nature could be directed by reason without having reason. my first attempt was to say that its like a man who purposfull goes to sleep. he was reasoning when he chose to go to sleep therefore all the reactions that follow from it are "from reason". my classmates didnt like this very much because they said that there wasnt anything clearly happening (arguable, but i had another example). a person who wants to raise there heart rate would exercise. there heart dosnt beat faster because of reason, but through reason.
In order to follow that and find it at all insitefull you might have to have read the text, you may even have to have sat through some of the discussion. (the article name is "the lifeless world of boilogy and was definitly worth reading; it is available here http://www.isnature.org/articles.html) the point that was made was that in the same way that a statue is made teolologicaly (coming about from its own end), that is that the sculptor has the idea of the statue (the form) and makes the statue (also the form) from it, nature can be ordered to a purpose if some higher mind holds the form before it incarnates, regardless of weather it comes about from natural systems or not. that was a horrible explenation though so i suggest you read the article.

well, im making little sense so i think i will go.

84% on my latin quiz (much higher than i expected, still not an A.)

This sunday one of our tutors is hosting a dinner (Mr. clark, who was a college basketball champion, lawyer, professional opera singer, world famous historian (he was invited to paris earlier this year [and went] to date [determine the date of origin] of a manuscript) wine afficinado and now of course, tutor. in that order. definitly an interesting person, im looking forward to getting to talk to him durring the dinner.

im still here

Tia kwon do is interesting. It is very similar in many ways to my old school of martial arts. and very different in a few.

i managed to get people to cover all the work shifts that i needed for this weekend.

The best thing that has happened in the last week was going to a little talk about graduate school. Mr. Clark gave it (if anybody knows him, which i dont think any of you do.) it was very helpfull in considering future careers. im going to see what i can learn about lawschool and general laywerness ;)

well, gotta run, much to do and the library closes in 10 minutes.
